Norway to provide Naftogaz with equipment for 80 MW of distributed generation

The Naftogaz group is waiting for the supply of equipment from Norway, which will add 80 MW of additional capacity to the energy system of Ukraine. About this reported head of “Naftogaz” Oleksiy Chernyshov on his Facebook page.

According to him, the company is actively developing distributed generation projects with the support of the Norwegian government. Within the framework of grant funding from Norway and with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), an agreement has been concluded, according to which the Ukrainian energy system will receive electricity generating equipment that will provide an additional 80 MW of capacity.

This decision will help increase the production of electricity and heat for residents of one of the regions of Ukraine. “We are grateful to our Norwegian partners for supporting the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which is being destroyed by Russian attacks. Norway has constantly supported Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war, and this is extremely important for us,” Chernyshov emphasized.

Earlier, the Norwegian government announced the allocation of an additional 1.5 billion kroner (approximately 127 million euros) for Ukraine’s energy needs. Part of these funds will be used for the purchase of equipment for Naftogaz.

In addition, Naftogaz is strengthening cooperation with UNDP in the direction of ensuring energy security and preparing for the 2024/2025 heating season, in particular with regard to the purchase of gas piston units to increase the stability of Ukraine’s energy system.
