Ukraine and Norway extended “transport visa-free travel” until the end of 2025
Ukraine and Norway agreed to extend the “transport visa-free” for another six months – until December 31, 2025. About this reported Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
Within the framework of this agreement, Ukrainian carriers will continue to be able to carry out cargo transportation and transit flights to Norway without the need to obtain special permits, provided that the vehicles meet the Euro-5 environmental standard or higher.
Agreements were reached on June 5 during a meeting of the Mixed Commission with the participation of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Transport of Norway. The agreement also provides for the possibility of automatic extension after 2025.
“The consistent policy of the Ministry of Development is the liberalization of freight transportation between Ukraine and other countries. We are working to create more opportunities both for our carriers and for the economy as a whole.” – said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba.
It will be recalled that “transport visa-free” between Ukraine and Norway was introduced in August 2023. The decision to extend it was the result of negotiations that took place in May at the International Transport Forum in Leipzig. Currently, Ukraine has agreements on liberalized terms of freight transportation with 35 countries, including all EU countries.
At the same time, the “visa-free trade” with the European Union ended on June 6 — quotas were again introduced for Ukraine. According to the National Bank’s assessment, due to the return of pre-war trade conditions with the EU, Ukrainian exporters will receive approximately $800 million shortfall.
