Norwegian defense giant Kongsberg begins operations in Ukraine

An office of Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace, a leading Norwegian manufacturer of weapons, including NASAMS systems, which are already used to protect Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks, has opened in Ukraine. About this reported Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov.
“In cooperation with Kongsberg, we are focusing on the development of joint projects in the field of air defense. We are preparing new solutions based on NASAMS – to strengthen the protection of the population and critical infrastructure. Air defense is one of our strategic priorities. This month alone, the enemy has launched more than 3,500 missiles and UAVs. We are working on scaling production and speeding up deliveries.” – the message says.
Umerov emphasized that the opening of the office was the next stage in strengthening the partnership between Ukraine, Norway and the Kongsberg company. Joint projects will be aimed at the production of interceptors, the development of air defense and maritime defense — areas in which the company has global leadership. In addition, there are new opportunities for cooperation between Ukrainian and Norwegian engineers in improving existing systems and introducing innovations.
“Thank you to the Norwegian government for the financial support. Thank you to the Kongsberg team for their trust and willingness to develop long-term cooperation. We expect practical results in the near future.”, the minister added.
