Scandalous expenses: during the war, Ukraine allocated almost 10 billion UAH for retired judges (video)
Considerable funds continue to be allocated from the state budget of Ukraine for the maintenance of retired judges.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine reported that during the full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukraine spent almost 10 billion hryvnias on pensions for judges. About this informs “Investigation. Info”.
According to the Pension Fund, in 2023, 4.4 billion UAH were spent on the maintenance of judges, and from January to April 2024 — 1.1 billion UAH. Earlier, in 2022, UAH 4.1 billion was allocated for the same needs. Thus, during the period of the full-scale invasion, retired judges received a total of UAH 9.6 billion from the state budget.
Ukraine maintains hundreds of judges who are on honorable retirement. For a judge, resigning is an important stage of a career — it is its logical conclusion, accompanied by lifelong financial support from the state. The amount of payments depends on the judge’s salary and can be from 50 to 90% of this amount, depending on seniority. Some judges receive payments reaching hundreds of thousands of hryvnias per month.
“Slidstvo.Info” has repeatedly written about questionable judges who are retiring. For example, journalists covered cases when judges got into traffic accidents while intoxicated, banned the Maidan, beat colleagues and could not explain the origin of their expensive property.
Of course, not all retiring judges are dishonest. However, there is a tendency for some dubious judges to try to take advantage of an honorary pension to avoid being dismissed for failing to pass a qualification assessment.
The High Council of Justice informed “Slidstva.Info” journalists that 239 judges resigned from July 2023 to July 2024, of which 130 worked in Kyiv.
