Officials of a mine in the Lviv region are accused of embezzlement of coal

Mine officials in the Lviv region are accused of embezzling coal, which led to losses for the state of almost 2.4 million hryvnias. According to the investigation, they exchanged a valuable mineral for a cheaper rock, falsified documentation and sold the resource to a controlled company. About this reported in the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation established that from January to February 2024, an organized group implemented a scheme to steal state property, in particular hard coal, at one of the mines in the Lviv region. The group included the chief engineer – the first deputy, the deputy director, the director, the head of the technological complex of the mine and the head of the economic entity.

“According to the developed plan, a contract for the sale of “rock” was concluded between the parties. When drawing up the company’s official accounting documents, inaccurate information was provided. In particular, the real volume of mined minerals was underestimated. In the future, “hard coal” under the guise of “rock”, which is much cheaper in value, was sold to a company controlled by members of an organized group.” – said the prosecutor’s office.

As a result of these actions, losses of almost 2.4 million hryvnias were caused to the coal mining enterprise. Prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment to the court against five members of the organized group. They are charged with appropriating someone else’s property and official forgery of official documents (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
