Officials of the Ministry of Justice were detained for spending millions on tests for convicts  

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reports the arrest of the head of a state institution subordinate to the Ministry of Justice and the director of a private company. They are accused of official negligence, official forgery, possession of property and legalization of funds obtained through criminal means.

According to the investigation, during October-December 2022, the head of the state institution negligently organized the purchase of hepatitis tests for convicts and persons taken into custody. As a result, their value was overestimated.

The director of the private company, in turn, forged the documents necessary to participate in the tender and organized the supply of tests at prices that exceeded the market value by 330% and 550%.

As a result of these criminal actions, the state institution overpaid the company 7.7 million hryvnias. Subsequently, the director of the company transferred these funds to the accounts of the controlled enterprise.

Currently, both suspects have been remanded in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
