Orbán will not be at Trump’s inauguration

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán does not plan to attend the inauguration of the newly elected US President Donald Trump. This information was confirmed by his press secretary Bertalan Havashi, informs Telex.

On this day, Orbán will deliver a speech in Budapest, dedicated to the results of Hungary’s recent EU presidency. The prime minister, who is often criticized in Europe for turning Hungary into an “electoral autocracy”, supported Trump back in 2016 during his successful campaign in the US presidential elections. In 2019, during Trump’s first presidential term, Orbán visited the White House.

In July 2024, the Hungarian prime minister again visited the USA, where he met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. After this meeting, Orban noted that they have “big plans for the future” in common.

We will remind you that on November 6, the day after the elections in the USA, Orban posted on the social network Kh named Trump’s victory as “the biggest comeback in US political history”.
