Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on partners to deploy a military contingent in Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, speaking at the meeting of the European Council, called for support for France’s initiative to strengthen the military presence of its partners in Ukraine. About this informs Office of the President of Ukraine.

Zelensky appealed to EU leaders with a proposal to join the idea of French President Emmanuel Macron to deploy a European military contingent in Ukraine.

“We support the initiative of France regarding the military contingent in Ukraine and call on other partners to join these efforts, this will help put an end to the war”, the statement says.

During his visit to Brussels, Zelenskyi held talks with Macron, where they discussed the French president’s long-standing proposal to deploy military forces in Ukraine. Zelensky noted that he sees a positive reaction from some European leaders, but at the same time admitted that this process is complex and requires coordinated actions.

It will be recalled that earlier Emmanuel Macron suggested the possibility of deploying the military forces of European countries in Ukraine, but noted that there is still no consensus among the allies. Efforts are currently focused on expediting the supply of ammunition, which remains a priority.
