People’s Deputies are preparing an appeal to the Constitutional Court regarding the law on reducing the powers of NABU and SAPO

People’s deputies of the Verkhovna Rada have started collecting signatures for submission to the Constitutional Court in order to challenge the law limiting the powers of NABU and SAP. About this reported MP from the “Voice” faction, Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

“In fact, the only thing that can be done now to correct the situation is to bring this law to the Constitutional Court”, – he emphasized.

In his opinion, “this is quite realistic, because during the consideration of the initiative in the parliament, the articles of the Regulations of the BP were violated.”

“So we are starting to prepare and collect signatures for the constitutional submission to the Constitutional Court. We will need 45 signatures of deputies… but, I think, there will still be that many in the Council.” said the parliamentarian.

Zheleznyak also expressed hope that the reaction of international partners could influence the situation, although he admitted:

“But here it will be difficult to return everything to the way it was.”

We will remind you that late on July 22, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a draft law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, in certain provisions of which the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office are limited, as well as their subordination to the Prosecutor General.

At the same time, protests were held in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro and other cities of Ukraine against draft law No. 12414, which, according to the participants, undermines the independence of NABU and SAP.
