People’s Deputies Renovate Their Cars for Millions, Despite War and Official Poverty

People’s deputies of Ukraine in 2025 replenished their garages with luxury cars, despite the war, the economic crisis and limited official incomes. According to the updated declarations, at least nine parliamentarians have purchased or started using premium cars — from MERCEDES and BMW to Audi Q8, with a total cost of 400,000 to over 5 million hryvnias. Some deputies rent expensive cars, the cost of which significantly exceeds their monthly salary.

Oleksandr Koltunovych, a member of parliament from the banned OPZZ party, who previously publicly advocated cooperation with Russia, now drives a 2023 BMW X5. The car does not belong to him, but to a company associated with the figures from the same police force. The monthly cost of renting such a car, according to market estimates, is more than 100 thousand. hryvnias, while the entire annual salary of the deputy for 2024 amounted to only 842,000 UAH. UAH He has no savings, housing is a dormitory and two modest shared apartments, and he pays part of his salary every month for alimony. At the same time, he also supports a new family with five children.

In May, Maksym Zuev from “Servant of the People” announced the purchase of a 2021 MERCEDES-BENZ EQS 450+ for 800,000. UAH On the market, similar cars cost more than 1.9 million. He bought this car from a company that sells vehicles – that is, it should sell at a profit.
