People’s deputies want to ban the sale of energy drinks to minors in Ukraine

A draft law has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for state regulation of the production and circulation of energy drinks, including their sale. Document offers prohibit the sale of energy drinks with a high content of stimulants to persons under the age of 18, as well as introduce other restrictions on their sale.

The authors of the legislative initiative note that due to their composition (caffeine, taurine, guarana, B vitamins, plant extracts and other additives), energy drinks can stimulate the central nervous system, temporarily creating a feeling of vigor, improved mood and increased activity.

“At the same time, the specified sensations appear in a person due to the mobilization of the body’s reserves, and the constant use of drinks with a stimulating effect can lead to the depletion of these reserves, and in the future cause increased fatigue, sleep disturbances, nervous disorders and depression.”, says the explanatory note.

We will remind you that countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and others have banned the sale of energy drinks to children, which contain high levels of caffeine and other stimulants.
