People’s Deputy Yaroslav Rushchyshyn died in a road accident

People’s deputy from the “Voice” party Yaroslav Rushchyshyn died as a result of a traffic accident. The accident occurred on the evening of Thursday, July 24, at 9:45 p.m. near the village of Babukhiv in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Rushchyshyn was driving a motorcycle, lost control and got into a collision. He died during transport to the hospital. About this informs Ukrainian Catholic University UCuniversity.
“Irreparable loss – Yaroslav Rushchyshyn – an honorary senator of the Ukrainian Catholic University, one of the founders of the UCU Business School, a great friend and benefactor of our university, a man of honor and dignity, died tragically in a road accident. This is an irreparable loss for the community and all of Ukraine.” – says the message.
Yaroslav Rushchyshyn was elected to the Verkhovna Rada in July 2019 as a majoritarian from the city of Lviv, representing the “Voice” faction. During his student years, Yaroslav Rushchyshyn founded and headed the Student Brotherhood of the Lviv Trade and Economic Institute. He was an active organizer of pro-Ukrainian strikes, demonstrations and festivals. He was among the initiators of the Revolution on Granite and the student hunger strike on Independence Square. In 2003, together with like-minded people, he founded “Lvivska gazeta”, which united leading journalists.
In the period from 2019 to 2021, he headed the Lviv regional organization of the party. He also held the title of honorary senator of the Ukrainian Catholic University and was among the founders of Lviv Business School LvBS.
In the cultural environment, Rushchyshyn is known as the co-founder of the artistic association “Dzyga” and the producer of Ukrainian musical groups, including “Dead Rooster”, “Club of Tea Fans”, “Dzyga Jazz Quartet”, as well as the early projects of “Oceanu Elsa” and singer Ruslana.
“I respect and love Yaroslav Ruschyshyn. His leadership, opinion, and word were extremely valuable to me. How Slavka will be missed in the family, city, and country. Rest in peace”, – noted the president of UCU, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak.
