This week, a South Korean delegation will visit Ukraine to discuss the situation with North Korea’s troops being sent to Russia. This was reported by Yonhap News Agency.

According to the publication, South Korean President Yun Sook-yol shared information about North Korean military units, which have been confirmed to be deployed in the Kursk region of Russia to participate in the war in Ukraine, during a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Yoon called on NATO to increase monitoring and block illegal cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

As for the visit, the South Korean delegation first plans to hold a briefing for the EU’s Political and Security Committee, and then travel to Ukraine. The visit will include meetings with Ukrainian intelligence and defence officials to exchange information on the fighting and discuss possible cooperation.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in turn, stressed that the participation of North Korean troops in the war in Ukraine is a critical issue for the Alliance. He expressed hope for continued coordination on countermeasures and information exchange in this regard.

Earlier, Yun also had a telephone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, during which he discussed the movement of DPRK troops and possible cooperation with the European Union on this issue.
