Peskov said that Putin supports the idea of a personal meeting with Trump and Zelensky
Vladimir Putin supports the possibility of a personal meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump. This was stated by Kremlin press secretary Dmytro Peskov.
“Putin fundamentally supports the possibility of a personal meeting with Zelenskyi and Trump, such contacts are necessary, but good preparation is necessary”, – noted Peskov.
He informed that a delegation of Russian representatives is going to Istanbul to participate in the second round of negotiations with Ukraine, which will take place on June 2. Moscow expects that the Russian and Ukrainian draft memoranda will be considered during these negotiations, but the content of the documents will not be disclosed.
Putin’s press secretary also clarified that European security issues should be discussed with European countries, but within the framework of this meeting in Istanbul, negotiations will take place exclusively between Russia and Ukraine. According to Peskov, Putin consistently conveys to his foreign interlocutors, in particular from the USA, Russia’s position on preventing the expansion of NATO to the east.
“Moscow is glad that Russia’s concerns about NATO expansion are being understood in Washington, especially from the point of view of its mediating role.” – added Peskov.
