Pharmacies that do not join the “Affordable Medicines” program risk losing their license

All pharmacies that have a valid license to sell medicinal products are required to join the state program “Affordable Medicines”. If they don’t, they can lose their license. About this stated Head of the National Health Service of Ukraine Nataliya Husak during inclusion in the telethon.
She reported that, as of now, 3,154 licensed business entities that have the right to dispense medicines are registered in the electronic health care system. Of these, 1,966 are already participating in the program, and 1,700 have dispensed at least one e-prescription as part of the initiative. However, according to Husak, pharmacies that do not submit an application for signing an agreement with the NSZU may lose their license.
“The Regulatory Authority should conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the license conditions. I understand that first of all, those pharmacies that have not joined will most likely receive an order to quickly eliminate this violation. But given that this is a license condition, individual pharmacies may lose their license if they do not become participants in the Affordable Medicines program.”, – emphasized the head of NSZU.
She also emphasized that currently there are already 16,500 pharmacies operating under the program in Ukraine. She called this indicator unprecedented. Starting in August 2025, the program will include medicines for the prevention and treatment of anemia in pregnant women. The list will be supplemented with preparations of ferrous iron in the form of tablets, solutions and syrups, as well as tableted folic acid.
In addition, the program will be expanded with new drugs intended for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases affecting the blood vessels of the brain.
