Poland will begin exhuming the victims of the Volyn tragedy in April

The exhumation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy in Ukraine will start in April, starting from the Ternopil region. About this informs RMF FM.
The Polish Foundation “Freedom and Democracy” is finalizing the formation of the mission, which will include about 20 people, including several Ukrainians. Anthropologists, archaeologists, forensic experts and geneticists will be involved in the team, and the main group of specialists will be headed by Professor Andrzej Ossowski from the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin.
Representatives of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland will also join the mission, but their role is still being clarified. Exhumation work will begin in the second half of April in the village of Puzhnyki, Ternopil region, and will last for about a month.
Anthropologists will determine the age, gender and cause of death, including whether it was violent. DNA samples will also be collected for comparative analysis. The cost of exhumation is estimated at several hundred thousand zlotys. It is reported that about 80 Poles died in the village of Puzhnyky.
We will remind that Ukraine granted Poland permission to carry out search and exhumation works for the victims of the Volyn tragedy. In response, Poland confirmed its support for Ukraine’s European aspirations.
