Postmen on scooters: Ukrposhta plans to modernize logistics

“Ukrposhta” is taking another step towards the modernization of its logistics infrastructure, having announced tender for the purchase of 880 electric scooters to improve the quality of services and the stability of the postal infrastructure. The tender is published on the portal of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which is one of the main financial partners of this project. The purchase is planned for 2025.
The initiative of “Ukrposhta” will not only facilitate the movement of couriers in urban conditions, but also reduce fuel costs, reduce harmful emissions and at the same time improve the quality of customer service.
“The introduction of electric scooters is an important step for improving the logistics and efficiency of Ukrposhta courier delivery. We not only improve the speed and availability of our services, but also reduce fuel costs and minimize the impact on the environment. But that’s not all. We say goodbye to in the past, transferring our postmen from bicycles to scooters. Therefore, we invite manufacturers and suppliers to join this historic project and together with us make the services of Ukrposhta more convenient for every customer and employee.” noted Ihor Smilyanskyi, Director General of Ukrposhta.
The electric scooters that Ukrposhta plans to purchase must meet certain technical standards: a range of at least 100 km, an engine power of 2,700 W and a load capacity of 180 kg. In addition to being environmentally friendly, electric scooters provide the comfort of couriers, allowing them to work more efficiently and deliver more shipments in one flight.
The project is financed by a loan and grant from the EBRD and the European Investment Bank, and purchases will be made on the ECEPP platform in accordance with the international standards of the EBRD. Submission of applications will continue until December 8, 2024, and at the end of November, Ukrposhta will hold a series of online meetings for interested suppliers to clarify the terms of the tender.
