Президент України Володимир Зеленський заявив, що у 1992 році Україна мала у своєму розпорядженні 225 систем протиповітряної оборони. Проте з часом більшість з них “кудись поділася”. За словами глави держави, до 2000 року кількість ППО в Україні скоротилася до 168–169 одиниць, а вже у 2019 році залишалося близько 60. Зеленський зазначив, що решта зникла впродовж 2000–2019 років. “Я не про те, хто в нас там що вкрав, продавав. Я про те, що ми повинні зрозуміти, яка була щільність захисту України. Для чого? Щоб зрозуміти, який захист у росіян. Тому що наші системи продавали не тільки туди, на Близький Схід, і росіянам теж”, — додав він. Президент також розповів про позицію США щодо можливого продажу Україні систем протиповітряної оборони Patriot: “Україна готова купити мінімум 10 систем Patriot. Я сказав про цей мінімум (президенту США Дональду) Трампу під час нашої телефонної розмови. Він мені сказав, що Америка буде працювати над цим. Поки що, окрім цього, в мене немає іншої інформації”.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated, that in 1992 Ukraine had 225 air defense systems at its disposal. However, over time, most of them “disappeared”.
According to the head of state, by 2000, the number of air defense systems in Ukraine had decreased to 168-169 units, and already in 2019, about 60 remained. Zelensky noted that the rest disappeared during the years 2000-2019.
“I’m not talking about who stole or sold what from us there. I’m talking about the fact that we should understand what the density of Ukraine’s defense was. For what? To understand what kind of defense the Russians have. Because our systems were sold not only there, to the Middle East, but also to the Russians.”, he added.
The President also spoke about the US position regarding the possible sale of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine:
“Ukraine is ready to buy a minimum of 10 Patriot systems. I told (US President Donald) Trump about this minimum during our phone conversation. He told me that America will work on it. So far, apart from that, I have no other information.”
