PrivatBank plans to sell 5 billion hryvnias of bad loans to Ukrainians

In 2025, PrivatBank plans to implement a portfolio of bad consumer loans for individuals with a total debt of over UAH 5 billion. About this reported press service of the financial institution.
These are unsecured loans for which the bank has already exhausted all recovery options. Previously, clients were offered debt restructuring, and enforcement mechanisms were also used. The sale of debts will be carried out through the electronic trading system OpenMarket (SE “SETAM”).
Prior to the sale, claims will be made only for the principal amount of the debt and accrued interest. Loans of military personnel, mobilized citizens, as well as residents of regions where hostilities are ongoing or under temporary occupation are removed from the portfolio.
In this way, the bank implements the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine and the government to reduce the level of problem debt in state-owned banks. During 2024, PrivatBank managed to collect UAH 6.7 billion of overdue debts.
As a reminder, as of the end of 2024, the share of non-performing loans (NPL) in the bank’s portfolio, excluding historical problem assets, was only 4.9%.
