Putin announced a three-day truce in honor of Victory Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin unilaterally declared a three-day truce for the period of celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, as the Second World War is called in Russia. This was reported by the press service of the Kremlin.

“Based on humanitarian considerations, on the days of the 80th anniversary of the Victory – from zero hours on May 7 to 8 to zero hours on May 10 to 11 – the Russian side declares a truce. For this period, all hostilities stop. Russia believes that Ukraine should follow the example and also declare a truce on the days of the 80th anniversary of the Victory.” – the message says.

Moscow also announced its readiness to start peace talks “without preconditions, focused on eliminating the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and constructive cooperation with international partners.”

We will remind that on April 19, Putin already announced the “Easter truce”, which provided for the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine from the evening of April 19 to midnight on April 21. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation noted that the Russian troops will observe the ceasefire regime only under the condition of mutual implementation of the agreements by Kyiv.

Ukrainian border guards reported that during the “Easter truce” announced by Moscow, numerous shelling of Ukrainian border territories and attempts of assault by the enemy were recorded.
