For the first time, Japan introduced sanctions against Chinese companies for supporting the Russian Federation’s war in Ukraine

Japan expanded sanctions against foreign companies that support the Russian invasion of Ukraine. For the first time, Chinese manufacturers of microelectronics entered the list.

This is reported with reference to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reuters.

According to a report by Reuters, the Japanese government has sanctioned the Hong Kong company Asia Pacific Links, which supplies microchips for Russian drones, and the Chinese company Yilufa Electronics Limited. In addition, the restrictions affected companies from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and India that cooperate with the Russian military-industrial complex.

The new sanctions prohibit Japanese companies from doing business with the listed enterprises. This decision is in line with restrictions previously introduced by other countries, including the United States.

The US administration has repeatedly declared China’s support for Russian military aggression, in particular, through the supply of critical components for the production of weapons. Last week, the US also expanded its sanctions against Russia, including several Chinese semiconductor manufacturers.

The Japanese sanctions are consistent with similar measures previously taken by other countries, including the United States. They prohibit Japanese companies from doing any kind of business with businesses under the restrictions.
