The legendary Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has died

Mourning reigns in the fashion world. Renowned Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, a pioneer of luxury fashion whose bright and bold style captivated the world for decades, has died. He was 83 years old.

About this reports the Italian agency ANSA.

Cavalli passed away at his home in Florence after a long illness, surrounded by family and loved ones. He is survived by six children and a partner, Sandra Bergman Nilsson.

“Roberto Cavalli offers its deepest condolences to Mr. Cavalli’s family. His legacy will forever remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration,” Roberto Cavalli CEO Sergio Azzolari wrote on Instagram.

Famous for his use of bright colors, prints and bold styles, Cavalli was an extravagant personality, known for his dark glasses and fondness for cigars.

Apart from fashion, he also had a successful career in real estate and was a regular in the nightlife of Milan, often spending evenings at his popular club “Just Cavalli Cafe”.

Giorgio Armani, a longtime friend and colleague of Cavalli’s, offered his condolences, saying he “always had great respect” for Cavalli, “despite the fact that their views on fashion were diametrically opposed.”

“Roberto was a true artist, wild and talented in the use of prints, able to turn fantasy into seductive clothes,” he wrote on the social network.

Cavalli’s death is a great loss for the fashion world. His legacy as an innovator and visionary will live on forever in his unparalleled creations that will continue to inspire future generations of designers.
