Representative of the Azov Brigade Recognized as the Best Military Medic in Europe

At the Combat Medical Care Conference 2025 held in Germany with the participation of over 1,400 experts from 44 countries, Volodymyr Ryzhenko, a combat medic of the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, known as “Sprite”, won the “Best European Medic of the Year” award in the “Military Medicine” category. “Special recognition was given to the combat medic of the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade of NSU, Volodymyr Ryzhenko, who was awarded the “Best European Medic of the Year” award in the “Military Medicine” category. He won this award for the exceptional case of saving his comrades in the winter of 2025 – thanks to the transfusion of donor blood dropped from a drone, he managed to save the life of a soldier in extreme conditions,” – it is noted messages

Along with the award, Volodymyr Ryzhenko received a sword as a symbol of strength, dignity and courage. During the ceremony, he thanked his brothers who contributed to the rescue operation.

In addition to him, two more medics of the 12th “Azov” brigade took part in the conference. Second Lieutenant Serhii Rotchuk, a friend of the Jedi, presented new approaches to medical logistics on the battlefield, and Olga Tagirova, known as “Krava”, highlighted the difficulties of providing care outside of the “golden hour” and the ongoing efforts to train personnel.
