Romania handed over the organizer of the international drug syndicate to Ukraine (video)

The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI) together with Romanian law enforcement officers detained one of the organizers of a large-scale international drug syndicate. This person was responsible for the activities of the group both in Ukraine and EU countries.

The suspect has been hiding in Romania since the end of 2023. The SBI declared him a wanted man for leading a criminal organization and organizing a particularly large-scale drug trade.

Thanks to cooperation with Romanian colleagues, in February 2024, the location of the suspect was established. After receiving the court’s permission, he was detained and handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement officers at the border.

Currently, the issue of preventive measure for the detainee is being resolved. He became the eighth member of this drug syndicate caught by Ukrainian law enforcement officers.

The activities of the criminal group consisted of: illegal production, transportation, storage for the purpose of sale
illegal sale of psychotropic substances, in particular PVP, 4-MMS and amphetamine, in particularly large volumes and smuggling of these substances from Ukraine to EU countries and Russia.

During the investigation, more than 300 kg of prohibited substances worth more than 200 million hryvnias were seized.

The investigation continues under the procedural guidance of the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine.
