Ruslan Kravchenko officially headed the Prosecutor General’s Office, he is the youngest in the history of Ukraine to hold this position

On June 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed decree on the appointment of Ruslan Kravchenko as the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. This decision became official after the Verkhovna Rada approved his candidacy on June 17, submitted by the president the day before, on June 16. Thus, 35-year-old Kravchenko became the youngest Prosecutor General in the history of independent Ukraine.
In his speech in the parliament before the vote, Ruslan Kravchenko emphasized that he has been working in the prosecutor’s office for 11 years and has the experience of participating in the most complex and high-profile cases. “No matter what position I was in, I would never give up,” he declared, promising to adhere to principles and consistency in his new position. As the new head of the Prosecutor General’s Office, he emphasized that he would keep “everyone within the law.”
Ruslan Kravchenko was born on March 14, 1990 in Severodonetsk, Luhansk region. From 1997 to 2005, he studied at secondary school No. 8 in his hometown. At the age of 15, he entered the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum, where he continued his education from 2005 to 2007. Subsequently, he chose the direction of military legal service: from 2007 to 2012, he obtained a higher legal education at the military law faculty of the Yaroslav the Wise National University of Ukraine. He graduated with a master’s degree in “law” and received the military rank of lieutenant of justice.
Kravchenko began his career in the prosecutor’s office in 2013, and over time became one of the public figures associated with investigations of war crimes and cases against high treason. Since 2022, he has held the position of head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, and before that he worked in the Office of the Prosecutor General.
He repeatedly made public statements about the importance of legal responsibility during the war, emphasized the need to punish war criminals and protect the rights of the civilian population.
