Russia admits the presence of “unarmed observers” in Ukraine as part of a peace treaty

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the peace agreement may provide for the presence of unarmed observers in Ukraine, a civilian mission that will monitor compliance with the terms of the agreement and guarantees. This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Oleksandr Hrushko.
“The peace agreement may provide for the presence of unarmed observers in Ukraine, a civilian mission that will monitor the implementation of certain aspects of the agreement, or guarantee mechanisms. If we talk about a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, then, of course, it will have an external contour. We will demand that reinforced concrete security guarantees become part of this agreement.”, – noted Hrushko.
According to him, only after the formation of such guarantees will it be possible to achieve “strong peace” in Ukraine and generally strengthen regional security. In addition, Ukraine’s neutral status and NATO’s refusal to accept it into the alliance should become part of the guarantees.
We will remind that at the beginning of March, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Serhii Lavrov, stated that the potential deployment of European troops in Ukraine would mean the official and direct involvement of NATO in the conflict.
