Russia continues to test the Oreshnik missile in combat conditions: Putin’s statement

President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated, that the tests of the new Oreshnik missile were successful, and the Russian army will continue its use in the war against Ukraine. During a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the defense-industrial complex on November 22, he emphasized that these tests will continue, in particular in combat conditions, depending on the circumstances and threats facing Russia.
Putin emphasized that the creation of the Oreshnik system demonstrates the high potential of the Russian school of rocket engineering.
“The achieved results and the speed of development cause pride and admiration, showing the ability of our science and industry to solve complex tasks to ensure the security and sovereignty of the country,” he said..
The President of Russia stated that “Oreshnik” is a completely new development, and not a modernization of Soviet systems, although the creation of this weapon was partly based on the experience of past generations.
“In today’s conditions, when we are faced with new threats and growing challenges, work on such weapons systems is of special, one might say, vital importance for our country.” Putin added.
In turn, the commander of Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces Serhiy Karakayev noted that the Oreshnik is capable of hitting targets throughout Europe, which significantly distinguishes it from other types of long-range, high-precision weapons. According to him, this missile can be equipped with both nuclear and non-nuclear warheads, expanding the combat capabilities of the missile forces.
As you know, on November 21, Russia struck the city of Dnipro with the help of a Horishnyk missile with non-nuclear hypersonic equipment. As Putin noted, the speed of the missile is 10 mach. Some military experts believe that “Oreshnik” is a modification of the RS-26 “Rubizh” missile.
