Russian airstrike in Sumy region: a residential building was destroyed, there are casualties, including children

On January 4, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on the Sveska community of the Shostkinsky district of the Sumy region. The enemy used an aerial guided bomb (ABM), which hit a residential high-rise building.

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported, that the number of victims increased to ten people, including two children. The injured were hospitalized in the district’s medical facilities, where they are provided with the necessary medical assistance.

The attack led to the destruction of 15 apartments in a high-rise building, and about 700 windows were also damaged. Due to the significant amount of damage, the local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, deployed a headquarters for liquidation of the consequences.

Warming places have been organized for the victims on the basis of two stationary points of invincibility, which can accommodate up to 200 people. In parallel, the issue of their temporary resettlement is being resolved.

Debris clearance work continues, emergency services specialists are working at the scene to ensure the search and rescue of people who may remain under the debris.

Sumy OVA emphasizes the need not to ignore air warning signals and follow safety rules. The military administration also expresses its gratitude to all those who help in eliminating the consequences of this tragedy.
