SAPO and NABU sent a case to court against 4 ex-managers of the State Enterprise “Zorya-Mashproekt”
Four former general directors of the state enterprise “Zorya-Mashproekt Scientific-Production Complex Gas-Turbobuilding” were accused of embezzlement of the company’s funds in the amount of $71.6 million. The prosecutor of the SAP submitted to the court an indictment prepared based on the materials of the pre-trial investigation of NABU. reported SAP press office.
The investigation established that the management of “Zorya-Mashproekt” in 2013-2018 concluded a series of agency contracts with a non-resident company, which “supposedly provided services for finding potential buyers of the state-owned enterprise’s products and conducting negotiations with them regarding the conclusion of relevant foreign economic contracts and received $71.6 million for this in 2013-2018,” according to the press release.
“However, the investigation established that in fact the company did not provide the aforementioned services, and the state-owned enterprise unjustifiably transferred the said funds to the accounts of the non-resident company, which were later legalized by transferring them to the accounts of foreign companies, in particular those controlled by the heads of the state-owned enterprise.” – the message says.
Evidence of illegal activity was obtained with the help of international legal assistance. Corresponding requests were sent to more than 20 countries. Indian authorities confirmed the fakeness of the services, and information from Switzerland and Latvia made it possible to trace the movement of some of the illegally obtained funds — $1.07 million and more than EUR222,000. Materials related to the non-resident company manager and other persons who are probably involved in the scheme were separated into separate proceedings, the investigation of which is ongoing.
Zorya-Mashproekt State Enterprise is a well-known developer and manufacturer of gas turbine equipment, in particular gas turbines for naval ships. The company is a monopolist in the market of the former USSR countries in this field. A significant part of the orders was equipment for the energy and gas transportation industry – before the war, Zorya-Mashproekt was one of the main manufacturers of compressor equipment for main gas pipelines in the region.
The main part of the company’s products was exported. Key foreign partners included India, China, Poland and Vietnam. Since April 2011, in accordance with the government decision, SE “NVKG “Zorya-Mashproekt” became part of the state concern “Ukroboronprom”.
