Counter-intelligence of the SBU together with NABU revealed a scheme of illegal appropriation of budget funds that operated at one of the former state-owned enterprises of the Ukroboronprom concern in the period 2016-2019. In the course of the investigation, it was established that four expositors of the defense company embezzled more than 107 million hryvnias of state funds during the export of military products. informs SBU press office.
The perpetrators engaged an affiliated commercial structure registered abroad to implement the device. While in management positions, they entered into agreements with the director of this company to support contracts with international partners of the Ukrainian defense complex.
In fact, all relevant work was performed by the state enterprise of Ukraine, and the activity of the intermediary company existed only “on paper”. At the same time, budget funds were transferred to her accounts under the guise of payment for services rendered. In the future, this money was transferred to the shadows through fictitious companies and distributed among the participants of the scheme.
According to the results of the investigation, four expositors and the director of an affiliated company, who are currently hiding abroad, were notified in absentia of suspicion under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provide for responsibility for embezzlement of state funds, laundering of proceeds obtained through crime, as well as official forgery.
Perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. Operational measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
