SBU detains university lecturer who directed enemy attacks on Kharkiv

The Security Service of Ukraine detained an informant who was passing on information about the positions of the Ukrainian military in the Kharkiv region to the Russian special service.

As stated in messages SBU, the woman worked as a teacher at one of the local universities, and the FSB engaged her to cooperate remotely in the summer of this year.

“At the order of the occupiers, it moved around Kharkiv and its surroundings, trying to determine the locations of fortified areas and strongholds of the Defense Forces,” – informed the department.

According to the SBU, the woman was particularly interested in the locations of military and heavy weaponry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and also monitored the movement of military convoys to the front line.

She transmitted the collected information to her Russian curator via an anonymous chat, using Google Maps to mark the coordinates and adding a text description.

The SBU identified the informant in advance, documented her actions and detained her in her apartment. During the search, a mobile phone with evidence of her intelligence activities for Russia was seized.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the detainee was charged under Part 2 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which refers to the illegal dissemination of information about military facilities. She is currently being held without bail. She faces up to eight years in prison.

Earlier in Kyiv, an agent of Russian intelligence was sentenced to 15 years for espionage at a defense plant. Another FSB agent was also detained in Chernihiv Oblast, who was correcting missile strikes and planning sabotage at Ukrzaliznytsia facilities.
