Searching for assets abroad will become easier: NAZK has joined Europol’s SIENA platform

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) has gained access to the Europol SIENA platform, which will greatly facilitate the detection of illegally obtained funds and assets that some Ukrainians hide abroad. About this reported press service of the NAKC.

“The platform makes it possible to use a secure channel for the prompt exchange of data between the NAKC and European partners, which will significantly improve the quality of international investigations and the detection of assets hidden abroad”, – the anti-corruption agency explained.

Access to international databases and tools of the SIENA platform will allow NAKC to quickly monitor financial flows and quickly identify suspicious assets. This will contribute to the detection and disclosure of complex corruption schemes both in Ukraine and abroad.

We will remind, according to the results of a sociological study, 89% of Ukrainians consider corruption to be one of the most serious problems for the country after the full-scale war.

It is also worth noting that in June NAZK signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Basel Institute of Management from Switzerland. This document provides for the strengthening of anti-corruption measures with the help of new digital tools, training of NAKC employees in the field of lifestyle monitoring, inspections of unsubstantiated assets, as well as analysis of corruption risks.

In addition, the memorandum provides for cooperation in the field of search and return of assets illegally removed from Ukraine.
