State enterprises saved 1 billion hryvnias on electricity

As of August 2024, state-owned enterprises of Ukraine have saved over 1 billion hryvnias thanks to participation in the balancing group of JSC “Energy Company of Ukraine” (EKU). About this reported ECU press office.
This became possible thanks to the optimization of electricity imbalances arising from inaccurate forecasting of electricity consumption or production. EKU Balancing Group, created in November 2022, allows enterprises to manage their electricity costs more effectively.
This group includes leading state-owned enterprises, in particular the operator of nuclear power plants NAEK “Energoatom”, producers of green electricity, as well as other large companies. According to the general director of EKU Vitaliy Butenko, participation in the balancing group significantly reduced the cost of imbalances, which allowed the public sector to save more than 1 billion hryvnias.
Butenko also noted that the increase in the number of participants in the balancing group, as well as the provision of commercial electricity accounting services since August, contribute to even greater optimization of imbalances. This helps businesses better predict their electricity needs and reduce costs.
It was previously reported that JSC “Ukrainian Defense Industry” was able to save almost 80 million hryvnias during the centralized purchase of electricity in August of this year through the Prozorro system.
