Suspects in an accident with seven dead near Lviv were taken into custody

The court arrested two men who are suspected of being involved in a fatal road accident that occurred near Lviv. As a result of the accident, seven people died, three more were injured. Police believe one of the suspects caused the collision and the other failed to render aid to the victims.

“The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect”, – the message says.

The driver, who was in a state of alcohol intoxication and became the culprit of the accident, was charged with 4 Art. 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules while intoxicated). He faces up to 12 years in prison.

A 31-year-old BMW passenger who left the scene together with the driver without providing assistance to the injured was also charged with suspicion. His actions are qualified under Art. 3 Art. 136 of the Criminal Code (Failure to provide assistance to a person in a life-threatening condition). The sanction of this article provides up to 5 years of imprisonment.

We will remind that the accident occurred involving a road train, a car and a minibus. The driver who caused the accident was intoxicated. He tried to run away from the scene, but was detained by the police.
