Suspicion has been announced against the ex-head of the GTS Operator, who caused losses to the state budget of more than 18 billion hryvnias

The law enforcement officers reported the suspicion to the former head of the “Operator of the Gas Transport System of Ukraine” (GTS), who caused losses to the state budget of over 18 billion hryvnias. About this informs Kyiv police.

The investigation established that in 2021, the monopolist company, which transports natural gas to consumers of Ukraine and EU countries, received UAH 20 billion in net profit under the leadership of the official. According to the legislation, 90% of this amount should have been transferred to the state budget in the form of dividends.

“The suspect, due to the improper performance of his official duties, decided not to distribute the income and not to direct the company’s funds to the country’s budget, as a result of which the state suffered material losses in the amount of more than 18 billion hryvnias.” – said the police.

According to the investigation, after being dismissed by the company’s supervisory board in September 2022 due to unsatisfactory work results, he entered false data in the order about an alleged business trip to Vienna and left Ukraine.

Currently, the ex-officer has been charged in absentia for part 2 Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – improper performance of official duties, which caused serious consequences for state interests, as well as under part 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code – entering false information into official documents. He faces up to five years in prison for the crimes committed.
