Sweden provides 4.8 billion kroons to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities

Sweden directs 4.8 billion kroner to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. These funds will go to support funds and initiatives aimed at strengthening the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian state. About this it is said in a message from the Swedish government.
It was decided to entrust the country’s Armed Forces with contributions to several multilateral defense mechanisms. The total amount of financing is about SEK 4.8 billion and is part of the 19th aid package, which was presented on March 31 and approved by the parliament on April 29.
“The international community has created a number of multilateral funds and initiatives aimed at purchasing materials and equipment to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Sweden contributes to several of them,” – stated in the official notification.
Funding will be distributed among key coalitions. In particular, 100 million kroner is earmarked for the purchase of demining equipment within the demining coalition.
The Drone Coalition will receive SEK 300 million to fund drones of various types. Another 50 million crowns will be allocated to the training of the personnel of the Navy of Ukraine within the framework of the maritime security coalition. The coalition of security systems and IT management will be allocated SEK 30 million to ensure the functioning of the “Delta” management system.
In addition, Sweden joins the so-called “Danish model” of arms procurement, allocating more than 1 billion kroner. Another SEK 418 million will be used to purchase equipment to strengthen Ukraine’s ground combat potential, including armored vehicles. This direction is financed under the leadership of Denmark.
