Sweden’s largest airport has stopped flights due to drones: an investigation has been launched

On the night of September 9, drones were spotted over Stockholm’s Arlanda airport, which forced at least five planes to be diverted to other airports. This is reported by AIR Live.
At least four unmanned aerial vehicles of various sizes were recorded, which forced the airport administration to temporarily suspend flights. The decision to close “Arlanda” was made around 02:00 (03:00 Kyiv time), after which five planes were sent to other airfields.
The airport was able to resume operations at 03:30 (04:30 Kyiv time). The police have launched a preliminary investigation on suspicion of sabotage and violation of the Security Act.
“We suspect it was a deliberate act, but I can’t say for what purpose. Due to the confidentiality of the investigation, we don’t want to release information about which drone and who saw it.”, – said police spokesman Daniel Vikdal.
The armed forces of Sweden were informed about the incident and were in contact with representatives of Arlanda airport.
The radio station Sveriges Radio Ekot reported that local residents recorded the appearance of drones over Uppsala, located near the Baltic Sea. This information was confirmed by the police. At the moment, there is no clear data on the connection between the sightings in Uppsala and the drones seen over Stockholm’s Arlanda airport, the public broadcaster notes.
