Syrsky said he would not resign at 60.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, does not plan to retire after turning 60 on July 26. That’s what he’s about reported in an interview with The Washington Post.

Holovkom reacted with humor to the assumption that he would retire after reaching the age limit for military service and noted that he is still capable of 100 times in a row. At the same time, his assistants note that he hardly sleeps, if at all. According to Syrsky himself, he is stimulated by the awareness of his personal responsibility in the matter of protecting Ukrainian citizens.

“And I understand that I have to do more and better” – he emphasized.

Even after many years in leadership positions, as Syrsky noted, he is most comfortable with the infantry on the front lines. His assistants believe that he will celebrate his 60th birthday there. The general himself noted that it is still too early to talk about it.

“It depends on God and on my president,” – Syrskyi explained.

He also outlined the needs of Ukraine at the front in the conversation. In addition to air defense systems and Patriot missiles, 155-mm projectiles, armored vehicles and long-range missiles are needed to hit production facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation. According to him, new supplies of air defenses, including Patriot, drone interceptors and light aircraft to combat Russian UAVs, could help prevent future Russian strikes. Additional supplies of medium- and long-range missiles, including ATACMS and Taurus, would slow Russia’s weapons production by striking its critical infrastructure.

“They attack almost everything – airfields, populated areas, infrastructure facilities. Therefore, of course, we need the supply of ballistic missiles to be able to give the enemy a decent response. The presence of any missile weapon is a deterrent in itself.”, – noted Sirskyi.
