On January 29, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi presented the new commander of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops — Major General Mykhailo Drapatoy, who also heads the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“I thanked Major General Andrii Hnatov for his work at the Khortytsia Air Force Base, who will continue his service as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, — noted Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to the commander-in-chief, the enemy is concentrating significant forces precisely in the area of responsibility of the “Khortytsia” air defense system.
“Our task is to hold the line, inflict maximum losses on the Russian occupiers, and take care of the Ukrainian defenders. I set the priority tasks to restrain the onslaught of the overwhelming enemy. We work together.”, – added Syrskyi.
We will remind that Mykhailo Drapaty will remain in the position of commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The combination of these two roles should ensure better coordination of combat operations with proper training of brigades.
