The Ministry of Defence has determined new calorie standards for the nutrition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved new requirements for the calorie content of products supplied to the military. About this reported press service of the department.

As the Ministry of Defense notes, the decision was made based on the results of inspections in military units, where a number of violations were discovered, in particular, regarding the supply of products with reduced calorie content. The Ministry emphasizes that in view of the increased physical and psychological stress on servicemen in the combat zone, it is especially important that the products meet their energy needs.

Establishing clear requirements for the energy value of products is not just a matter of standards, but a guarantee that our defenders receive what they need to maintain combat readiness and health“, said Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klimenkov.

The new calorie requirements will become part of government contracts for the purchase of products, which will take effect from the beginning of 2025. The Ministry of Defense procurement agency DOT will include these standards as a mandatory element in every contract.

We will remind that in August 2024, the Ministry of Defense updated the approach to the formation of dry rations for soldiers, taking into account the religious, medical and moral needs of the military. And in June, a new procedure for concluding contracts for the supply of products for the Armed Forces was launched.
