Taiwan banned the export to Russia and Belarus of an important component for shells: parts

Taiwan has increased economic pressure on Russia and Belarus by banning the export of nitrocellulose, a key component for munitions production.
About this reported in the press service of the ministry.
As the department explains, this step is aimed at preventing the use of Taiwanese products for military purposes and eliminating a “regulatory loophole”, since nitrocellulose is already prohibited for export to the USA and the EU. Violation of the ban carries a fine of one million Taiwanese dollars (about $31,000). The decision will enter into force on June 14.
This is not the first expansion of sanctions by Taiwan. In December of last year, equipment for the production of semiconductors, chemicals and medicines were added to the list of prohibited goods.
Although direct trade between Taiwan and Russia is minimal, the island nation has strongly condemned Russia’s stance on Ukraine and joined Western sanctions.
It is noted that the situation in Ukraine evoked sympathy among the people of Taiwan due to parallels with what could happen if China decides to use force against the unrecognized island nation to bring it back under its de facto control.
