Tears of war: children who will no longer hear “I love you” from their father

War takes away the most valuable thing – the lives of people who fight for their country, protecting peace and the future of their children. Thousands of families in Ukraine experience the indescribable pain of loss every day. Children remain without parents, mothers without sons, wives without husbands. The most painful thing is that among the dead there are many young parents who will no longer be able to hug their children, take them to school, support them in difficult moments.
Especially tragic are the stories when parents of large families die. They leave this world, leaving their children orphans, with emptiness in their hearts and many unanswered questions. How to live without a father? How to come to terms with the fact that he will not return home?
In the Nikopol district on February 19 held in the final journey of the junior sergeant Yevhen Guzenka, who died on February 10 in battle in the n.p. Pischane in Kharkiv Oblast. He was not only a soldier, but also a loving father, husband, and son. His three children have been orphaned and are now forced to live without the support their father could have given them. This story is just one of thousands that become a reality for Ukrainian families every day.

Little children, who only yesterday fell asleep to the warm voice of their father, today hear only silence. They cannot understand why he is no longer around, why mothers are crying, and the house is filled with bitter emptiness. Parents are the ones who teach us to walk, who support us when it’s scary, who teach us about life. When they leave forever, children have to face the pain of adulthood too early.

Burials of fallen defenders take place every day in cities and villages of Ukraine. These are not just numbers or news – they are destroyed destinies, unfinished stories, children who will never again be able to hear “I love you, son” or “I am proud of you, daughter”. Each such funeral is a reminder of the price that Ukraine pays for its independence, for the future, which is becoming increasingly difficult for those who remain without parents.
Ukrainian mothers try to support their children, but they themselves cannot cope with the pain of loss. Communities and voluntary organizations help the families of the victims, but nothing can fill the void that appears after the loss of the most dear person.
The world needs to know about this pain! We must talk about these children, support them, help them build a future, even when their childhood is forever changed. The war continues and every day it takes away someone’s parents. It is important to remember everyone who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine, and to do everything so that their children do not feel abandoned in a world that has become too cruel for them.
