A new notification system was tested in Kharkiv today. The signal that sounded was different from the one that Kharkiv residents were used to during a full-scale war. The check lasted several minutes. City authorities in advance asked residents not to worry.
“Today at 1:30 p.m. in Kharkiv, a new decentralized warning system will be tested. The sound of this system will be different from the usual air alarm signal, which, unfortunately, we have become accustomed to over the past almost three years. The test will last 4 minutes. We call on everyone to remain calm and not to worry – it will be planned training”, — informed the Kharkiv City Council.
The city has been working for a long time to create a differentiated system of air alarms, which would facilitate the work of businesses. The idea was that the signal would be activated only in the event of a direct threat to the city.
“We are working on the differentiation of air alarms, and when we have such a system, the air alarms will sound in a completely different way, will cover a different time.” – explained the mayor Ihor Terekhov.
At the same time, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, emphasized that it is not easy to differentiate threats specifically for Kharkiv. This topic is being discussed with Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi.
