A petition has appeared on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with a call to ban the participation of psychics and representatives of pseudoscientific currents in the national telethon “Yedini Novyny” and news broadcasts. The initiator of the petition, Nataliya Yakovleva, expressed concern that TV channels use psychics to predict the events of the war and interpret the future with the help of tarot cards.
Yakovleva warns that some of these individuals have a pro-Russian past and can subtly spread destructive narratives that harm Ukrainian society. She also emphasized the inadmissibility of spending public funds on programs that mislead viewers with pseudo-scientific forecasts, since the telethon is financed from the budget.
In accordance with information edition of “Our Money”, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the state has spent more than a billion hryvnias on the telethon, and the budget for 2024 provides another 1.5 billion hryvnias for its financing. So far, the petition has collected 963 signatures out of the 25,000 required for official consideration by the government.
