The amount of funds on the accounts of enterprises decreased by UAH 53 billion: NBU

Since the beginning of 2025, the amount of funds in the accounts of enterprises in Ukrainian banks has decreased by 53 billion hryvnias, amounting to 2.725 trillion hryvnias. About this informs NBU press office.

Representatives of the regulator noted that at the same time the amount of hryvnia funds in the accounts of individuals increased by 0.1% during the month. For comparison, their decline was observed in January last year.

“Situational outflows of funds from business accounts in January, which are caused by seasonal factors, in particular the payment of annual taxes and fees, have no impact on the liquidity of the banking system”, – it is stated in the notification.

According to the NBU, seasonal factors affect the flow of funds in clients’ accounts: at the end of the year, receipts increase, and at the beginning of the next, they decrease. Similar dynamics were observed even before the full-scale war.

Last year’s seasonal outflow of funds did not affect the overall level of liquidity of the banking system. In general, for 2024, the volume of hryvnia funds in the accounts of individuals in banks increased by 12%, and in businesses – by 19%.

“According to our forecasts and expectations of banks based on a recent survey, the volume of customer deposits will continue to grow in 2025. Such expectations were recorded throughout 2024,” – explained in the press service.
