The Armed Forces of Ukraine began using ground-based drones with aircraft missiles

93rd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine started the use of ground-based drones equipped with the UB-16-57 launcher for 16 S-5 unguided air missiles.

The idea belongs to the company commander with the call sign “Electrician”. According to his idea, the launch unit was dismantled from the museum plane, which stood in the city of Berestyn for about 70 years, and installed on an unmanned platform.

The brigade also received 150 rockets, which were successfully used to destroy enemy positions. After a missile salvo, the drone was moved to another point for recharging and re-use. Russian troops were not ready for such an attack method, reacting with heavy fire, including from artillery, in the area where the drone was used.

Despite initial doubts, this idea has shown high efficiency and is already actively used. Ground-based drones have also proven effective in evacuation missions. Lieutenant Colonel Kyrylo Veres, commander of the K-2 regiment, said that in four days the robotic platforms of his unit evacuated four wounded soldiers.

The successful use of a drone for evacuation was also recorded in the 13th brigade of NSU “Chartia”, where the robotic complex “Targan” delivered the wounded to the evacuation group, covering a route 12 km long.
