The bodies of 502 Ukrainian soldiers were returned to their homeland

Ukraine returned the bodies of 502 servicemen who died defending the country in various military operations. These soldiers took part in battles in Donetsk region, Luhansk region, Zaporizhzhia and other areas where active hostilities continued. About this informs Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
As a result of the repatriation measures, the bodies of 485 soldiers who died in the territory of Ukraine, as well as 17 bodies that were in morgues in the territory of the Russian Federation, were returned to their homeland.
The return process was organized thanks to the coordinated work of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Central Security Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other law enforcement agencies and departments. Significant help in this difficult mission was provided by international partners, in particular the International Committee of the Red Cross.
After the bodies are returned, they will be handed over to law enforcement agencies and forensic experts for identification. This procedure is important for confirming the identities of the fallen heroes. Upon completion of all necessary procedures, the bodies of the defenders will be handed over to their relatives for a dignified burial, commemoration and farewell to those who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine.
