The Cabinet did not support the appointment of Tsyvinsky as director of BEB

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine did not support the appointment of Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi to the position of director of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) and asked the tender commission to re-submit candidacies.
During the regular meeting, the government considered the submission of the Commission on the selection of the director of the BEB. Earlier, Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi was recognized as the winner of the competition. The Government studied additional materials provided, in particular, by the Security Service of Ukraine. These documents related to issues of national security and contained relevant conclusions.
“According to the results of a comprehensive review of the submitted materials and taking into account the security component, the members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine unanimously decided to apply to the Selection Commission for the Director of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine with a proposal to resubmit no more than two candidacies”, says the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The government stressed that such nominations “must meet all established criteria,” including security requirements. The Cabinet of Ministers also emphasized that the adopted decision complies with the provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On the Bureau of Economic Security”.
Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi is the head of the third division of detectives of the Second Main Division of NABU detectives. He worked in internal affairs bodies, was one of the first 70 detectives of the newly created National Anti-Corruption Bureau. In his questionnaire, he stated that he is not a member of any political party. Tsyvinsky headed the “Clean City” operation.
We will remind you that on February 6 NABU and SAP conducted the “Clean City” operation to expose Kyiv officials involved in corruption schemes in the field of land use and the budget. The investigation established that the participants of the scheme identified attractive plots of land and registered the ownership of non-existent buildings on behalf of controlled persons. In the future, applications were submitted to the city council for the registration of ownership rights to these plots allegedly for the maintenance of buildings, which allowed to bypass the bidding procedure.
On June 24, Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi became the winner of the competition for the position of the director of BEB. The application for his appointment was submitted to the Cabinet on June 30. According to the law, the government had 10 days to make a decision. On the same day, the ambassadors of the Group of Seven countries welcomed another step in the process of selecting the head of the BEB. In their statement, they emphasized that a transparent process with the participation of international and Ukrainian representatives is key, and the BEB reform is important for improving the business climate in Ukraine.
