The Cabinet of Ministers allowed motorcycles and mopeds to move in the public transport lane

In Ukraine, the traffic rules were updated, allowing motorcycles and mopeds to use the lanes designated for public transport. About this reported permanent representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.
“Amendments were made to the Traffic Rules. Mopeds and motorcycles (with the exception of motorcycles with a side trailer, motorized wheelchairs, three-wheeled vehicles) are given the right of way in the lane for the movement of route vehicles along with the general flow of vehicles“, Melnychuk noted.
He also emphasized that the descriptions of informational signs 5.8 “Road with lane for route vehicles” and 5.11 “Lane for route vehicles” were clarified.
We will remind that in Ukraine, a fine of 680 hryvnias is provided for driving in a public transport lane. This violation is regulated by clause 17.1 of the Traffic Rules. Such lanes are marked with special road signs, in particular sign 5.11, which prohibits the movement, stopping or parking of private vehicles on the relevant sections of the road. Control over compliance with the rules is carried out by patrol police and video cameras.
The police emphasize that sanctions are applied both for driving in this lane and for any other violation related to its use. Drivers should carefully follow road signs and rules to avoid fines and reduce the likelihood of accidents.
