The Cabinet of Ministers approved new decisions to stimulate the development of distributed generation
Among the adopted decisions is the National action plan for the development of renewable energy until 2030 and the plan of measures for its implementation.

Today, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, three key decisions aimed at stimulating the development of distributed generation were adopted.
In particular, the National Action Plan for the Development of Renewable Energy until 2030 and the corresponding plan of measures for its implementation have been approved. This document is a supplement to the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) and defines strategies for the development of renewable energy in various sectors until 2030, taking into account the policies and measures identified by the NECP, writes Government portal.
According to the Plan, the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in the total final energy consumption will reach 27% by 2030. In particular, this share will be 33% in heating and cooling systems, 29% in electricity production, and 17% in the transport sector.
In addition, the government decided to establish an additional annual support quota for business entities that produce electricity from alternative energy sources for 2024, and also approved the schedule for holding pilot auctions for the distribution of support quotas. Auctions for the allocation of quotas are a common mechanism for stimulating the development of RES on a competitive basis.
The additional annual support quota is set at the level of 110 MW, of which 11 MW is intended for solar power plants (SPP), 88 MW for wind power plants (WEP), and another 11 MW for other alternative energy sources. Pilot auctions are planned to be held in October-November this year, and the first facilities to be put into operation based on their results will start supplying electricity to the grid in 2025.
The Government also approved the terms of the tender for the construction of generating capacities and the implementation of demand management measures, which will allow to increase the volume of generation in the power system. The competition provides for the construction of facilities with a capacity of 5 MW to 80 MW, with a total competition capacity of 700 MW. All relevant facilities should be commissioned by the end of 2027.
